Last week, the CCR, a giant in highway, airport and urban mobility concessions, announced the closing of a contract to sell its stake in the share capital of Sociedade de Atividade Multimídia (Samm), provider of Multimedia Communication services, to Megatelecom. The value of the business is R$100 million, according to Relevant Fact. Reuters
Samm is 100% controlled by the CCR Group, whose business is to provide high-capacity data transmission services, and has a network of 4,899 kilometers of underground optical fibers, present in 161 municipalities in the states of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro , Minas Gerais, Bahia and Paraná.
“Its backbone network encompasses more than 4,899 kilometers of underground optical fibers, with ring topology and 24/7 monitoring. Samm has even more than 2021″ kilometers of optical access in urban networks”, says the company’s official presentation.
The operation is still subject to the verification of certain conditions usual for this type of transaction, including regulatory approvals, CCR added in the document to the Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM).
According to CCR, the transaction is part of an ongoing strategy of portfolio review and selective capital allocation, in addition to socioeconomic and environmental development of the regions where it operates.
Megatelecom is a telecommunications, data center and Information Technology (IT) operator, operating in the Center-West, Southeast and South regions of Brazil. Operating since 1999, the company operates in the markets for providing Internet access, long-distance and high-capacity transport links.
Through a controlled company, telecom holds the Dialdata telecom, an STFC license (CSP024) that enables it to provide telephone services throughout the national territory. In its description as a company, Megatelecom structured its operations in 2014, when it began to focus on serving corporate customers and operators, through a split in its residential customer portfolio.
