The City of Londrina, through the Municipal Health Department (SMS), announced this Tuesday (30) that it will expand the reference network for dengue cases on the Labor Day holiday, this Wednesday (1).

According to the SMS, two new Basic Health Units (UBSs) will be opened to treat exclusive cases of dengue. In the north region it will be UBS Vivi Xavier (Rua John Lenon, 105), and in the east region it will be UBS Armindo Guazzi (Av. São João, 4321).

They will be open from 7am to 7pm and will join efforts with UBS do Ouro Branco, located at Rua Flor do Alpes, 570, open from 7am to 11pm, and with the Emergency Care Unit (UPA) Sabará, which operates 24 hours a day, at Avenida Arthur Thomas, 2390. Both health units are already a reference in care for dengue cases.

The expansion of care during the holiday, according to the secretariat, aims to speed up the disease staging process, which is the health monitoring carried out with all people suspected of having dengue. This monitoring consists of checking vital signs, in addition to checking blood pressure, in sitting and standing positions, testing the noose, checking the general condition and warning signs in the patient. In some cases, laboratory tests are also performed.

This procedure is important to observe the possible worsening of the disease and is carried out over a period that can vary from 7 to 10 days.

Patients who present classic dengue symptoms can go directly to the dengue reference units, which are open on demand, without the need for an appointment. The population should be aware of the following symptoms: fever accompanied by headache, body and joint pain, as well as prostration, weakness, nausea, vomiting, pain behind the eyes and red spots on the skin.
