As a result, it became cheaper and sold well again. But the big difference came at the beginning of 2023, with the launch of the Track version. Manual, 1.0 aspirated and focused on direct sales, arrived to replace the biggest success in Volkswagen’s history in Brazil, the Gol, which had been discontinued after decades of career.

The acceptance was good. With the Track version, the Polo began to lead the passenger car segment – ahead of the Onix and HB20. Furthermore, in 2023, it even surpassed Strada in the monthly result on some occasions – including in December.

But the Fiat model managed to maintain its leadership last year, and also opened 2024 ahead – although it fought well with the Polo in January and February. Now, the VW model has finally managed to take the lead.

The fight in March

According to data released by Jato Dynamics, Strada had 9,990 registrations in March. As a result, it was almost 2,000 copies behind the Polo, which sold 11,943 copies.

Adding the results from March to those from January and February, the Strada accumulates 26,580 registered units in 2023. Thus, it is now 683 copies behind the Polo. The small disadvantage shows that the fight is very far from the decision. There is a strong possibility that it will be fierce throughout the year.
