Cruzeiro agreed to hire Paulo Pelaipe, an executive from Botafogo-SP, to work alongside Alexandre Mattos in the football department. The market movement is part of the changes implemented by Pedro Lourenço, new owner of the club’s SAF.

Pelaipe’s name was recommended by Alexandre Mattos, who returns to Cruzeiro to be the strong man in football under Pedrinho’s management. The negotiations took place this Tuesday, and Pelaipe announced his departure from Botafogo-SP at the end of the afternoon.

The professional is scheduled to arrive in Belo Horizonte this Wednesday, when he will sign the employment contract and meet with Mattos to understand exactly how Cruzeiro’s new organizational chart works.

The information about Cruzeiro’s interest in Pelaipe was reported by journalist Samuel Venâncio.

Later this week, the club will announce new names for important football positions. The expectation is that it will be defined, for example, who will be the professional responsible for intermediating the relationship between the cast and the board. Paulo Autuori was one of these links and held the role of technical director. He left the club with Ronaldo.

Pelaipe, who has worked directly or as a consultant for teams such as Flamengo, Grêmio Fortaleza, Corinthians, Criciúma, Vasco, São Caetano and Coritiba.

At Flamengo, Paulo Pelaipe held the position of football manager and participated in the victorious 2019 campaign, when the club won the Brasileiro and the Libertadores. At the end of that year, his contract was not renewed and he left Rio.
