The Toyota Hilux, the third best-selling pickup truck in Brazil, and the most popular medium pickup truck in the country, will soon gain a new generation, with 100% electric powertrain.
The confirmation was made by Noriaki Yamashita, president of the brand in Thailand, at an event that marked the opening of the Bangkok Motor Show.
Toyota has been flirting with the launch of the electric Hilux since December 2022, when it presented a prototype of the electric truck at an event in Thailand itself.
The Japanese manufacturer’s expectation, according to the Reuters report, is to sell at least 250,000 vehicles in Thailand, most of them in the pickup truck segment.
When will the electric Hilux be launched?
According to Noriaki Yamashita, the electric version of the Hilux will enter production lines in 2025, but the exact day and month in which this will occur have not yet been announced.

There is still no official information regarding the configurations of the upcoming electric Hilux, but it is not difficult to predict that the model should, at least in design, follow the lines of the current generation, mainly due to the proximity of the launch.
The executive did not say, however, whether the electric Hilux will be manufactured in Thailand, a country that is recognized as a pickup truck producer and exporter and usually serves as a reference for models launched in America.
