The Argentine government released a note on Friday night (3) in response to the Minister of Transport of Spain, Óscar Puente, who at an event of the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party (PSOE), party of the president of the Spanish government, Pedro Sánchez, said that the Argentine president, Javier Milei, “ingested substances”.

At a PSOE event this week, Puente said that “there are very bad people” being elected to important positions and cited Milei and former American president Donald Trump (2017-2021).

“I saw Milei on TV and […] when he left, I don’t know in what state and before ingesting or after ingesting which substances, […] I said: ‘It’s impossible for him to win the elections’”, said the Spanish minister.

In an official note, the Argentine presidency repudiated “the slander and insults” made by Puente and made reference to the recent investigation against Sánchez’s wife, Begoña Gómez.

“Pedro Sánchez’s government has more important problems to resolve, such as the corruption accusations leveled against his wife, an issue that even led him to consider his resignation. For the good of the Kingdom of Spain, we hope that the Court will act quickly to clarify this corruption scandal that directly affects the stability of your Nation and, consequently, relations with our country”, stated the Argentine government in the note.

The statement also mentioned the agreement that Sánchez made with Spanish separatist parties to obtain the nomination to remain at the head of the Spanish Executive in a vote in the European country’s Legislature.

“Pedro Sánchez put the unity of the Kingdom at risk, making a pact with the separatists and leading to the dissolution of Spain; put Spanish women at risk by allowing illegal immigration of those who threaten their physical integrity; and has endangered the middle class with its socialist policies that only bring poverty and death”, criticized the Casa Rosada.

“We, Argentines, chose to change the model that brought us misery and decadence. The same model that the Spanish Socialist Workers Party applies in its country. We hope that the Spanish people will soon choose to live in freedom again”, ends the note.
