Russia issued a search warrant against Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky without making the reason public, according to an announcement Saturday on the Interior Ministry website.
The leader is wanted “under an article of the criminal code”, says the brief text, which does not provide further details about the nature of these accusations.
Since February 2022, Russia has been promoting an offensive against Ukraine, presenting it as a fight against a “Nazi” power.
Zelensky is a particular target of Russian authorities.
The list of people wanted by Russia is very extensive and includes Russian and foreign personalities, especially Ukrainians.
In February, the name of Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas was added along with those of other officials from the Baltic countries. To justify this decision, the Kremlin invoked the opposite view of history that Russia and these states have.
