This Tuesday, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced that he will increase the country’s military spending to 2.5% of its GDP.

The increase in the military budget will put the British in “war readiness”, said the conservative who governs the country until the beginning of next year.

Turning point

By increasing military spending, Sunak will enable the expansion of British defense companies such as BAE Systems, MBDA and Rolls Royce.

“Today is a turning point for European security and a landmark moment in the defense of the United Kingdom. It’s a generational investment in British security and prosperity, making us safer at home and stronger abroad.”

The speech was given during a visit to Poland. There was a meeting with Jesse Stoltenberg, head of NATO. The British government also wants to increase its spending on Ukraine.

With Kiev retreating sharply on the battlefield and Israel at risk of conflict with Iran, the UK wants to defend itself.

The Poles have given intense military and technical support to Ukraine and Sunak’s trip reinforces London’s rivalry with Moscow.

The idea is to face Russia and China.

“In a world that is the most dangerous since the end of the Cold War, we cannot be complacent. As our adversaries fall into line, we must do more to defend our country, our interests and our values,” said Sunak.
