Hamas speaks of 240 murdered patients. On Sunday (31), WHO director Tedros Ghebreyesus said that 21 patients at Al-Shifa hospital had been killed since the start of the Israeli operation.
The buildings in the Al-Shifa complex were destroyed or set on fire. “I haven’t stopped crying since I came here, horrible massacres have been committed. This place needs to be rebuilt. There is no more Shifa hospital,” a witness told Reuters.
Gaza’s Hamas-controlled Ministry of Health says more than 20 bodies were found in and around the hospital. A doctor told AFP that some bodies were crushed by military vehicles as Israeli troops left.
A spokesman for the Gaza Civil Emergency Service told Reuters that two people were executed at the compound. The corpses were handcuffed and buried. Reuters was unable to verify the claim.
Hamas apologized to the people of Gaza for the difficulties caused by the war, but declared that it will continue fighting for the “victory and freedom” of the Palestinians.
The Israeli government is under pressure for a ceasefire agreement. Qatar, Egypt and the United States act as mediators in the negotiation.
