Globo’s six o’clock soap opera, In Rancho Fundo will have a break in the development of its new chapters. After hastily casting for the 6pm slot last year, author Mário Teixeira intends to slow down.

Alexandre Nero and Andrea Beltrão in No Rancho Fundo

Romantic comedy set in the Cariri region, in the backlands of Paraíba, the plot follows the trajectory of Quinota (Larissa Bocchino) and her family, the Leonel Limoeiros, whose foundation is the matriarch Zefa Leonel (Andrea Beltrão).

Based on the play A Capital Federal, by Artur Azevedo, the story marked the return of Mário Teixeira after two years. In 2022, he signed Mar do Sertão, a serial that served as inspiration for the new work – even with characters being revived.

Escalation in a hurry

Teixeira’s selection to return to the air with a new soap opera this year took place in August 2023. The decision was made by Globo after the cancellation of O País de Alice, written by Lícia Manzo, which ended up being shelved.

Since then, the author began to develop the new serial at an accelerated pace so that the network could make production viable, since at the time of the announcement there was only the definition that it would be a contemporary romantic comedy and that it would be directed by Allan Fiterman – repeating the recipe for Mar do Sertão.

Strike

Mario Teixeira

After starting work in a hurry, Mário Teixeira managed to win the race against time and has already decided to slow down the work. With a good number of chapters ahead, he said he took a break to gauge public acceptance before developing new chapters.

“I always stop in this opening month to see if things are working. The public doesn’t want to see what they expect, they want to be surprised all the time”, said the author in a conversation with the newspaper O Globo.

At the time of Mar do Sertão, the novelist was criticized for the way he developed the plot. The central plot developed quickly in the first few weeks and then became stagnant and storyless.

When does No Rancho Fundo end?

With No Rancho Fundo, Mário Teixeira still has a long way to go and many chapters to develop. The author will have to sustain the story at a good pace for seven months.

O TV History found that the current six o’clock soap opera will run until November 1st, ending with a total of 173 chapters.

Until then, many things will still happen in the lives of Quinota and his family.
