Actress says ending series is a “stupid decision”

Annie Potts, who plays Sheldon’s grandmother, was shocked by the news!

A few weeks ago, fans of Young Sheldon were shocked by the news that the series would end after its seventh season. However, it seems that even those involved in the production of the series were taken by surprise by the cancellation announcement.

Annie Pottswhich gives life to Constance Tucker – or Connie -, Sheldon’s maternal grandmother, spoke about the cancellation in an interview with Varietycondemning the decision of the CBS (original broadcaster of the series) as “stupid”:

“I still don’t understand why they canceled it. It just seemed like a stupid business decision.”

She explained that the news of the series ending came out of nowhere, and none of the actors had any idea that they would have to prepare to say goodbye to their characters:

“That [cancelamento] It was especially difficult because I was completely unprepared. I was shocked. I mean, the No. 1 series on the network, No. 1 on Netflix. We’re, I think, everything people watch on TikTok besides some pasta recipes… If a show starts to drag, or if there’s a lack of stories or things like that, then you know it’s going to happen. We were completely cornered by the news. At least I was.”

Interestingly, a spin off has already been announced, and should focus on the lives of Georgie CooperSheldon’s older brother, and his wife Mandy McAllister. In Young Sheldonthey were played by Montana Jordan and for Emily Osment.

Created by Chuck Lorre It is Steven Molaro (creator and screenwriter of The Big Bang Theory, respectively), the series Young Sheldon takes place years before the events of the original series, and focuses on the childhood of Sheldon Cooper, in addition to the relationship with his family. The series has been on air since September 2017, and is now in its seventh season.

The series continued to be one of the most successful products in the CBS, with an average of 7 million viewers when aired in the United States. Precisely for this reason, the cancellation of the project has left fans, actors and many others involved in the production a little shocked.
