This week, another classic soap opera entered the Globoplay catalogue. Originally aired in 2002, “Desejos de Mulher” is available on the platform.

Written by Euclydes Marinho, the soap opera has 185 chapters and is directed by Dennis Carvalho.

“Desejos de Mulher” marked the reunion between Regina Duarte and Gloria Pires in the soap operas, 14 years after the successful duo in “Vale Tudo”, when the two played mother and daughter.

But in “Woman’s Desire”, the connection between the two characters is different.

Andréa Vargas (Regina Duarte) and Júlia Moreno (Gloria Pires) are sisters with very different worldviews. While the first is a renowned fashion designer and lives in the spotlight, the other gave up her career as a journalist to take care of her husband and children. The two disapprove of each other’s way of living: Andréa sees her sister as vulgar and tacky, and Júlia considers her arrogant and bad character.

But in one of the scenes in the first chapter, a truth comes to light and changes the course of the story: during an argument between the sisters, Júlia reveals that Andréa is adopted.

Regina Duarte’s character will suffer a coup, orchestrated by her husband Bruno (José de Abreu) and her lover Selma (Alessandra Negrini), an employee of her company who later discovers she is her biological sister.

The plot also tells the story of Júlia deciding to return to the job market when Renato (Cássio Gabus Mendes), her husband, is arrested with fake dollars.

She believes in Renato’s honesty and fights to get him out of prison. In her daily life as a journalist, she meets Chico (Eduardo Moscóvis), with whom she begins to live a love triangle.

“Desejos de Mulher” was Euclydes Marinho’s third soap opera as a titleholder. In it, he brought his third fictional couple “Júlia and Chico”, formed by Gloria Pires and Eduardo Moscóvis.

Before, the first “Julias and Chicos” were Denise Dumont and Daniel Dantas, in “Quem Ama Não Mata”, a 1982 miniseries; and Débora Bloch and Marcos Palmeira, in “Andando Nas Nuvens” (1999).

In addition to these projects, the author had already written “Mico Preto” (1990), in partnership with Marcílio Moraes and Leonor Bassères. He also signs series such as “Felizes Para Semper” (2015), “As Cariocas” (2010), among other successful works.
