A collision between a car and a truck resulted in the death of a man and left four people injured, this Thursday morning (25), on the ES 490 highway, in Itapemirim. The accident happened at around 8 am around Itapeco, in the rural area of the municipality.
The head-on collision between the Gol do Instituto Capixaba de Pesquisa, Technical Assistance and Rural Extension (Incaper) and the red Mercedes truck was so strong that it caused the vehicles to cross the track, falling into a ravine on the side of the road. The white Gol ended up hitting two workers who were doing clearing work on the shoulder, killing a 33-year-old man and leaving the other victim in a serious condition.
According to information gathered at the scene, a truck would have lost its brakes and ended up overturning on the road, hitting a vehicle, which consequently ran over two men who were working on the side of the road. The Goal followed towards Maratazes x Cachoeiro.
The two occupants of the Incaper car were transferred to the Santa Casa de Misericrdia de Cachoeiro, the driver of the truck was sent to the Emergency Room in Maratazes.
Incaper sent a note to the FATO journalism team:
“The Capixaba Institute for Research, Technical Assistance and Rural Extension (Incaper) is in solidarity with the families involved in this accident.
The Institution is awaiting the fact-finding process. At the same time, Incaper is supporting the physical and psychological health of the employees involved, through the institution’s Personnel Management psychosocial service.
Incaper’s Transport Coordination is taking the necessary measures in relation to the institution’s vehicle”.
