head of EON Productions and holder of the rights to James Bond, Barbara Broccoli confirmed that the death of Queen Elizabeth II will have influence from now on.
“Bond has worked for the Queen and her country (since her first big screen appearance), and now he will work for the King and her country. He was a very loyal servant of the British government. He is a classic hero who cares about the world and cares more about humanity than his own personal desires.”
told the The Hollywood Reporter.
“It’s a very sad time in Britain, obviously it’s a great transitional moment, but she certainly left an extraordinary legacy.”
For those who don’t know, the Queen was a big fan of the franchise, even shooting a commercial with Daniel Craig for the 2012 Olympics in London.
The leaders of EON Productions are planning a reinvention of the secret agent, and it seems that this involves choosing a younger actor compared to the previous ones.
As a result, some supposed candidates ended up being discarded, including Tom Hardy (Venom), Sam Heughan (Outlander) and Idris Elba himself (The Beast).
For those who don’t remember, Craig was 38 years old when 007: Casino Royale debuted.
007: No Time to Diewhich served as Craig’s farewell, became one of the top hits during the global health crisis, grossing $774 million.
