The renowned game creator and “father” of soulslike, Hidetaka Miyazaki, from FromSoftware, gave an interview to Zhihu, where he practically confirmed that Shadow of the Erdtree will be the “first and last DLC” for Elden Ring. However, even without additional content after the expansion, a sequel to the RPG is not ruled out.
This revelation was initially observed by the GamesRadar+ portal and caught the attention of fans of the 2022 Game of the Year on social media. After all, the Thrustmaster brand of controls reportedly sparked a ray of hope when it revealed a mysterious collaboration where a second package had been mentioned.
But be careful: Miyazaki did not close the door on a possible sequel to Elden Ring. After the critical and sales success for the company, it is expected that more stories will happen in the Intermediate Lands for FromSoftware to bring more content.
Question: Shadow of the Erdtree is the only DLC for “Elden Ring”, correct? If not, are there any other agreements that can be revealed?
Response: It is the first and last DLC, and we have no plans to add more content to “Elden Ring”. However, whether the story of “Elden Ring” will have a conclusion has not yet been decided. FromSoftware’s approach is generally not to easily lock in the future of an IP, so it’s best to leave some possibilities open. However, regarding Shadow of the Erdtree, it is in fact the only DLC.
