Capcom shared, this Monday (1), the partial results of the Capcom Town survey. In it, players pointed to titles like Dino Crisis and Breath of Fire as games that need to receive new games or remakes.

The research of the Capcom Town ends on April 12th and raises several questions. Among them, Capcom asked whether players wanted to see a new game in a series of games, or to see a classic game remade with newer technology.

Interestingly, Capcom highlighted the results from the West and those from Japan among the more than 200,000 responses it received until this Monday. The results were disseminated through a word cloud – the longer the word, the more it was cited in the research.

In Japan, Breath of Fire, Mega Man, Ace Attorney and Sengoku Basara are among the most requested. In the West, the most prominent words were Dino Crisis, Mega Man, Resident Evil and Ace Attorney.

Capcom appears to be conducting some field research with Capcom Town. With more than 200,000 responses, the Japanese publisher is able to identify players’ real desire to see a new game/remake of some classic franchises such as Dino Crisis and Breath of Fire.

In addition research also analyzes other points, such as people’s feelings towards Publisher. Therefore, words like Thank You appeared prominently in the word cloud.

As the survey is open until April 12th, you can still participate through the official website. Recently, the company also started a survey to see if players want DLCs for Dragon’s Dogma 2. Apparently, Capcom does not want to invest in a game like Dino Crisis or a new Breath of Fire without being sure of the financial return.

Something that makes complete sense, after all Production costs for a AAA game exceed US$100 million. So, instead of simply taking risks in reviving an old IP, they have their eyes on the players’ real interests.

It would be very interesting to see some classic games like Dino Crisis, Breath of Fire and Darkstalkers receiving remakes, or a completely new game. After the success of Resident Evil 4 Remake, it would be a good surprise to see the publisher investing in other IPs.

For now, rumors suggest that Monster Hunter Wilds is Capcom’s biggest project. As research is still open, it’s best not to get your hopes up about the announcement of a new Dino Crisis or Breath of Fire anytime soon.

Fans have been asking for new games from these IPs for years, but it will take a while for this to happen. In any case, the research reveals the desire for new games and this could be enough to convince Capcom to give us news about some old and forgotten IPs.
