Apple machine that updates iPhones in the box has an image released

-

As we have seen this week, the Apple is preparing to launch a system that allows you to wirelessly update the software of iPhones still in the box in the company’s stores. The first information about the call Presto are already reaching Apple Store teams and the first image of the machine has been released, as well as more details on its operation.

According to iGenerationthe equipment uses NFC of iPhones to perform the update. As reported by the journalist Mark Gurman (from the Bloomberg), the device resembles a shoe rack, with spaces and markings to position sealed iPhone boxes correctly, as well as tools to hold boxes of different sizes.

In the photo below, two machines can be seen, one above the other:

The Presto can accommodate up to six iPhone cases at the same time. After correct positioning — which takes up to 20 seconds to perform — the update takes 15-30 minutes. Also using a system similar to MagSafe to power iPhones, the device turns on the devices inside the packaging, downloads and installs available updates and then turns them off.

The machine was developed by Apple’s behind-the-scenes operations team, which creates tools to assist Apple technicians and retail employees. The idea behind Presto is that iPhones do not need to have their iOS updated when the box is opened for the first time, keeping them always up to date, even if sealed. As a result, the experience should be safer and more practical, with no need to update the software before transferring data from an old device, for example.

The device should begin to be used in Apple Stores next month. There is still no information about its use in Maçã stores in Brazil, although it is expected to occur in other countries besides the United States, as stores in other locations are also receiving information about Presto.
