After the Formula 1 Miami GP, ESPN announced that the race broke a new audience record on TV in the United States. Seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton was enthusiastic about the growing support for the category.

Everything seemed to conspire to promote Formula 1 in the USA. NFL and NBA stars, such as Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Jimmy Butler, were present in the race. Lando Norris provided a special moment with his first victory, and there was no lack of controversy, with the punishments for Kevin Magnussen and his crash into Logan Sargeant.

In the paddock, Hamilton was truly happy with the fact that F1 is attracting more and more audiences in the United States. “What did this race mean to you? I mean, I don’t live here, so you need to tell me. But what I can say is that I absolutely love Miami. The atmosphere is incredible, people were very receptive, and really, this is even better than any other year we’ve been here, in terms of the public, the atmosphere in the city, the energy that everything had”, said the Brit.

Hamilton can finally share his passion for the sport with the country. “I don’t even know how to express how much I appreciate a sport that I’ve loved since I was four years old. Coming to the US, at first, no one knew it and had the same love for it as me, and I kept thinking, ‘Wait, you guys like basketball as much as I do, but what about F1?’ And now people have this enthusiasm, this love, and it’s really great to see,” added the British driver.
