Son of the land, Wesley is experiencing a moment of evolution in the season

On the rise at Corinthians, striker Wesley is attracting interest from clubs abroad and is expecting proposals in the transfer window in the middle of this year.

To discuss Wesley’s future and other clients, the player’s agent, Clóvis Henrique, traveled to Europe this week, where he will meet with clubs.

At the moment, West Ham is emerging as the main interested party in the striker. Recently, the English club signaled an offer of 18 million euros (around R$100 million at current prices), a number that does not meet Corinthians’ wishes.

Behind the scenes, the black and white board is working with a figure of at least 25 million euros (approximately R$139 million).

The value would place Wesley as the biggest sale in Timão’s history in absolute numbers. However, when the figures are corrected for inflation, Pedrinho’s transfer to Benfica, in 2020, for 18 million euros, would be even greater.

In recent interviews, Corinthians president Augusto Melo reinforced the speech he has adopted since the election campaign, stating that he does not intend to sell athletes. However, the club needs to make transfers to close its accounts in 2024. The black and white budget estimates a revenue of over R$47.9 million by the end of the season.

Timão holds 70% of Wesley’s economic rights, whose contract runs until August 2027. The termination fine for clubs abroad is 100 million euros, but Corinthians understands that it is not possible to negotiate the athlete for this amount at the moment.

In addition to West Ham, English clubs Brighton and Crystal Palace sought information about the player, but did not move forward with negotiations. Atlético de Madrid, from Spain, also showed interest in the young man.

Consolidated as the team’s starter in 2024, Wesley has 61 games and four goals as a professional for Corinthians.
