Rome Italy) – Current number 5 in the world, North American Jessica Pegula remains without competing, withdrew from this week’s WTA 1000 in Rome and is now in doubt for Roland Garros. The 30-year-old tennis player hasn’t played in almost a month, when she won her two matches in the qualifying round of the Billie Jean King Cup.

A week earlier, Pegula reached the semifinals on green clay in Charleston, but then missed the entire European season on clay, leaving Stuttgart, Madrid and now Rome. The American is trying to recover in time to reach Paris.

“Hi everyone – quick update – I’ll be staying out of Rome and possibly RG. In fact, I feel really good, but I have to get back to training at a snail’s pace”, wrote the American on her Instagram account.

Pegula has not confirmed the nature of his injury, but he missed the Middle East season after the Australian Open earlier this year due to a neck problem. In 2024, the North American has 14 wins and 6 losses, highlighted by the semifinals in Adelaide, San Diego and Charleston, as well as the quarterfinals in Miami.
