– I don’t know how many people we or RB have hired from McLaren this year. From Mercedes, we took 220 people from the HPP (high performance engines) division to RB Powertrains. So, when we are talking about losing people, I would be a little more worried about these 220 than maybe one or two CVs – declared the head of RBR.

Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren, revealed that he has received more CVs from rival employees as a reaction to the announcement of Newey’s departure from the team. Toto Wolff, an outspoken opponent of Christian Horner in F1 for years, made similar comments:
– Zak is absolutely correct, we are seeing CVs coming from RBR at all levels. But this is nothing out of the ordinary, people change teams, they want to change environments. I’ve reached a point where I’m not really interested in what’s going on with the leaders. It’s important that we look at our team, develop the strongest people and hopefully bring in some interesting and capable people from other teams to build an exciting journey towards recovery.
– I think it’s inevitable. The two candidates (to receive Newey) talk a lot. But I’m not going to get involved in a fight. I would focus more on the problems that Toto has – reinforced Horner.
