After all, while the Rio club ended 2023 without lifting any cups, the Gávea team’s current season is quite questionable – despite winning the Campeonato Carioca title, against the modest Nova Iguaçu. So much so that pressure for his dismissal has already emerged from Flamengo.
Separated by just three points in the Brazilian Championship league table, Corinthians and Flamengo face off next weekend. Before that, however, Timão takes the field in the Copa Sudamericana. The duel against Nacional, from Paraguay, is valid for the fourth round of Group F, and will be played at the Defensores del Chaco stadium.
