The CBF published on its official website the VAR audios about capital moves involving arbitration in the Bahia’s victory, in the middle of Nilton Santos, 2-1, over Botafogolast Sunday (5), in a confrontation valid for the fifth round of the Brazilian championship.
The controversy that generated the most complaints on the field from Glorioso was the disallowed goal of Junior Santosat the beginning of the second half, after being flagged for offside Damian Suárez at the beginning of the bid. On the field, the infraction was marked.
At VAR, after two minutes of review, Igor Benevenuto informed Rafael Rodrigo Klein, field referee, that the offside was confirmed.
“Campo flagged offside, okay? Wait, okay? Let’s draw the lines. First defender, it’s this one or the one below. Mark him, on top of the trunk. Now let’s mark the other player, go to the left… It will be 13 (Arias). The defender is 13 (Arias)”.
“Now put it on the striker (Damián Suárez). It can go up (the line), up to his arm… That’s the angle. To the left, to the right… That’s it. It’s his arm. Ok. You can confirm. Off-side. There is no penalty, clean throw. Confirmed, offside at the beginning of the play”, says the VAR.
The cancellation of Júnior Santos’ goal generated complaints from the attacker himself and also coach Arthur Jorge, who was skeptical regarding the lines drawn by the VAR at the beginning of the play.
Júnior Santos commented on a post on the topic in the profile of Instagram by presenter Igor Rodrigues and expressed irony to talk about the annulment of the goal. “My player got a bomb in the arm?“, he questioned.
The Botafogo striker, however, deleted his comment some time later. Arthur Jorge spoke of a “clear goal”. “We scored a goal a minute and a half into the second half which, for me, is a clear goal. For me. It’s a goal. There is no impediment that justifies the invalidation”, he pointed out.
