With Thiago Silva’s return to Fluminense in the second half of 2024, Tricolor will repatriate one of the defenders with the highest number of goals in the club’s history. The 39-year-old idol scored 14 goals during the three seasons he played for the Rio club, between 2006 and 2008 – one of them against Boca Juniors, in the 2008 Libertadores runner-up campaign. Pinheiro leads the statistics of top scoring defenders, with 51 goals scored for Tricolor. Edinho is second in the category, with 33, while Silveira and Gum share third place, with 29 each. Leandro Euzébio is fourth, with 15 goals, one more than Thiago.
With the opening of the international window on July 10, Thiago will be able to play from the 18th round of the Brasileirão and will be able to compete in the round of 16 of the Libertadores and Copa do Brasil, if Fluminense manages to qualify in both competitions.
Fluminense returns to the field this Thursday, May 9, to face Colo-Colo in the fourth round of the Conmebol Libertadores group stage. For the Brasileirão, Tricolor will face São Paulo next Monday, May 13, at Morumbi.
