Charles Leclerc believes that Max Verstappen could be vulnerable in the first corner of the Formula 1 Miami GP. The Monegasque driver will start in second position in Sunday’s race. However, his Ferrari teammate Carlos Sainz, who will start third, is less confident of the possibility of overtaking.

Leclerc started well in the Sprint race, also in P2 and behind Verstappen, but was unable to overtake the Dutchman in the first corner. However, the Ferrari driver said that he would have made a more aggressive attack if it had been a normal race, without the risk of damaging the car for the GP qualifying session, held shortly after the Sprint race.

“The first corner is always important, and Verstappen has a very strong race pace. It’s definitely an opportunity to attack, but only if there’s that gap. This morning, there was. If we can overtake, I’ll be happy. Otherwise, I will be a little more patient and try to preserve the tires to attack later,” said Leclerc.

Sainz, however, has an opposite view. The Spanish driver does not believe that this challenge can be met in the first corner. “Things can happen, although I think in recent years everyone seems to have very similar starts. There are no longer the differences we saw in the past. I think everyone basically starts at the same pace and it’s difficult to make a difference there”, concluded Sainz.
