Barcelona lost to Girona this Saturday 4-2, at the Montilivi Stadium, in the 34th round of the Spanish Championship. Due to the Catalan club’s stumble, Real Madrid won the competition title, after beating Cádiz 3-0 at the Santiago Bernabéu.

With the result, Barça drops to third place and remains with 73 points. With four rounds left until the end of the national league, the team led by coach Xavi can no longer surpass the Merengue team, who secured the trophy with 87 points. Girona moves up to second place, with 74, and is classified for the next Champions League.

This is Real Madrid’s 36th La Liga trophy. With the victory, the team increased the distance to Barcelona, ​​who lifted the cup 27 times.

Barça takes the field again on May 13th, at 4pm (Brasília time), against Real Sociedad, at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium, for the Spanish Championship. While Girona visits Alavés next Friday at 4pm.

The game

The match started off busy and Barcelona opened the scoring two minutes into the first half. Lamine Yamal made a great pass to Andreas Christensen, who dominated the chest and shot low into the left corner to find the net.

Girona came back better in the second half and tied again in the 19th minute. Dovbyk took advantage of Sergi Roberto’s wrong pass, advanced freely with the ball and passed it to Portu, who shot low to score.

Girona’s comeback came next, in the 21st minute. Portu received a great pass on the right and passed it to Miguel Gutiérrez at the edge of the area, who dominated and finished to score the team’s third.

In the 29th minute, Girona expanded with a great goal. Brazilian Savinho made a great pass for Portu, who volleyed a shot from the right to score the last goal of the game.
