The Fag Cascavel women’s handball team trained intensely throughout this week with a view to their upcoming commitments for the Paranaense Championship. The third stage will be played in Maringá and coach Neudi Zenatti’s girls will play two more games. This Saturday (04), the clash is against Foz do Iguaçu, at 4:30 pm, at the Valdir Pinheiro gym. And on Sunday morning (05), at 9:45 am, Cascavel faces Londrina, in the same location.

In handball training, it is the goalkeepers who suffer the most. Isabelly and Eduarda say so. They are the position players of the Cascavelense team. Assistant Marcos Galhardo is the one who does specific work with the goalkeepers. He explained that, for this season, the coaching staff chose to work with just two athletes for this position. In previous years, Cascavel always had three goalkeepers. “We had three goalkeepers. In conversations at the end of last year, Professor Neudi and I [Zenatti, técnico] We decided to keep just two goalkeepers. We look for the history of some goalkeepers, if possible, with a small history of injuries. We brought a goalkeeper with good performance and who has no previous injuries”, said Marquinhos.

This intense work with the goalkeepers has been having an effect in Paranaense. Cascavel owns the second best defense with 81 goals conceded, just three more than Maringá, which leads the state, and which conceded 78 goals. The assistant added that he did specific work with the two athletes according to the weekend’s opponents. “As part of this work, we analyzed with them how the teams we are going to face have been working on the attack to try to develop some very specific work with them”, he added.

Leader

In the Paranaense Championship, Cascavel has a 100% success rate with four wins in four games. The team has the same eight points as leader Maringá, but loses on goal difference. Maringá, which will host the stage, is trying to stay in the lead. To do this, they need to win the clashes against Santa Helena and Sociedade Thalia, from Curitiba. In addition to having the best defense, Cascavel has the best attack with 156 goals against Cascavel’s 147, the second best attack. The difference in difference between the leaders is just twelve goals (78 to 66). To be leader, Cascavel needs to win both games and hope for a stumble from the competitor. Or thrash opponents to make up the difference in the balance.

Masculine

The Cascavel men’s team also has a 100% success rate and shares the leadership of the State with Maringá. The two teams have eight points, but Cascavel has a lower balance (51 against 43). But the Cascavelense team has the best defense with 43 goals conceded against 51 from Maringá. But there are fewer goals scored: 141 against 150 for Maringá. Cascavel plays two more games this weekend in the Cidade-Canção stage. This Saturday (04), the clash will be against Santa Helena, at 7:30 pm. And on Sunday (05), the game will be at 12:30 pm against Assis Chateubriand. The two matches will be at the Valdir Pinheiro gym.
