Lewis Hamilton took the opportunity to praise Carlos Sainz before the start of the F1 Miami GP. Despite not having a close relationship with the Spaniard, the Mercedes starter highlighted his opponent’s talent and good personality.
Sainz, despite missing the Saudi Arabian GP, had a great start to the season. In fact, he remains the only driver outside of Red Bull to have won both last year, at the Singapore GP, and this year, the Australian GP.
Therefore, the form has caught the attention of Hamilton, who replaces him at Ferrari in 2025. “I have a lot of respect for Carlos, and I think it has been great to see his progress as a driver. I believe he is doing an incredible job,” said the seven-time champion.
“I just always see the good relationship he has with his father, which I identify with. From the outside, he seems like a very focused, funny person, that’s the most I can say about how much I know him,” he added.
