The scorers of Mengão’s goals were Fabi Simões, Gisseli and Jucinara, while Gabi Itacaré and Kélen scored for Fogão. The triumph was Flamengo’s second consecutive victory in the Brazilian Championship, who had beaten Santos 7-0 in the last round. Their next match will be against América-MG, next Monday (6), at 9pm. Botafogo, in turn, is in 11th place and will play again on Monday, at 4:30 pm, against Corinthians.

About the match

After just six minutes, Botafogo opened the scoring in the Luso-Brasileiro. Center forward Gabi Itacaré started quickly, shot across goalkeeper Karol Alves and scored. Flamengo responded shortly afterwards. Left-back Jucinara hit a beautiful free kick and left everything the same. Then, in the 27th minute, Jucinara crossed from the left and winger Gisseli headed it alone to turn the match around. In stoppage time, winger Fabi Simões hit hard and made it 3-1.

After half-time, Botafogo went on the attack looking to reverse their situation in the match. In the 12th minute, Gabi Itacaré placed it in the area and striker Kélen headed it into the corner to reduce it. In the remainder of the duel, Flamengo faced more danger and came very close to increasing their advantage on the scoreboard. Fogão only had one clear chance with Kélen, who finished for a good save by Karol Alves.

Simultaneously with the game between Flamengo and Botafogo, América Mineiro and Red Bull Bragantino faced each other at Arena Gregorão, in Contagem. Hingredy and Karol Bermudez scored for Minas Gerais and São Paulo, respectively. Both teams are in the knockout zone for the Brazilian Women’s Championship.
