The Olympic sports fan knows Fernando Possenti as a coach. One of the main coaches in Brazilian swimming in recent years, he was one of those responsible for Ana Marcela Cunha’s incredible achievements in open water, as well as the recent good results of Brazilian women’s swimming in the pool. But in the last edition of Unlimited, we know a little about another side of Fernando Possenti: the super passionate and romantic guy, the proud father and the wine lover.

The romantic

Fernando Possenti has been in a relationship with Juliana Fajardo for two years. She, like Possenti, works at Team Brasil’s CT, managing the Brazilian artistic gymnastics team that trains at the Olympic Park. Despite working in the same space, the first direct contact only came in Japan, during the Tokyo Olympic Games. Some time later, he invited her to dinner, starting the relationship.

“We had never crossed paths before in CT. The first time I saw her was in Tokyo, she came to congratulate me on Ana Marcela, I congratulated her on Rebeca”, said Fernando, who also likes to surprise his loved one, even managing to make a bouquet of roses reach Juliana in the middle of a training of the artistic gymnastics team in the French countryside.

“It’s a lifelong love. An incredible person who directly reflects everything you have been following because I feel like a better person every day for being by her side. It’s impressive how she manages to center me and make me a better human being”, says Possenti about her beloved. “She is the most important person in my life,” he added.

The big daddy

Fernando Possenti has two daughters from a previous relationship: Aléxia and Adele. But with work and distance, the coach is unable to spend as much time with them. “I wish I had more time for them. It’s great to be with them. I am a proud father. I’m so proud of these two. They are extraordinary little human beings” said Dad during Sem Limites.

“If you can leave a legacy for athletes, let alone for them. It’s incredible to see some of their attitudes. Because you as a father end up serving as an example, so little by little some mannerisms, speeches, attitudes become the same”

Good in a glass

Outside of sport, wine is another passion of Fernando Possenti. The trainer revealed on Sem Limites that he is a trained sommelier, after taking a course in São Paulo a few years ago. “I joke that if I don’t work out as a trainer, I’ll at least have a profession. I’m passionate about wine. I like to taste, understand, visit wineries. The wine reaches a point of detail, which is almost like in high-performance sport,” he said.

What started as a hobby, Today is a dream for the future. One of Possenti’s life goals after stopping coaching is to produce his own wine. “It’s my dream for the future. Having my own land, planting and making my wine. Then I consume part and sell the rest. That’s my dream,” he concluded.
