Inter’s highlight left Cruzeiro with the status of the worst investment of the SAF era < In Attack

In just a few months at Internacional, Wesley has already equaled the number of goals he scored for Cruzeiro in 2023. The 25-year-old striker left Toca da Raposa through the “back door”, after poor performance this season. Fearful about the player’s future, the star club chose to sell him quickly, to ensure that the financial loss did not worsen.

The number 21 found the net four times and scored once in 12 games for Inter. For Cruzeiro, he had four goals and two assists in 43 matches (33 as a starter).

Now, it’s time for a reunion. A standout under the command of Eduardo Coudet, Wesley should be Colorado’s starter in the duel with Raposa, in the fifth round of the Brazilian Championship. The teams will face each other this Saturday (4/5), starting at 9pm, at Mineirão, in Belo Horizonte.

When Cruzeiro paid for Wesley

Wesley was purchased by Cruzeiro from Palmeiras, in December 2022. The club’s board paid R$16 million for 50% of the winger’s economic rights – the biggest signing ever made during the management of Sociedade Anônima de Futebol (SAF).

His last game as a celestial athlete was the 1-0 victory over Goiás, in November last year, in the 35th round of the Brazilian Championship. At the end of the match, Wesley suffered an injury to his left shoulder that took him out of the final stretch of Series A.

How much did Inter pay for Wesley

When Cruzeiro bought the striker, it was decided that the payment to Palmeiras would be made in installments. Therefore, at the beginning of 2024, the amount had not yet been fully paid.

To acquire Wesley, Inter assumed the R$10.6 million debt that Raposa had with Verdão. In February of this year, the operation was closed and the player moved to Colorado.
