Gabigol is applauded in his return to Flamengo and leaves a promise to the fans

36 days after being removed and unable to even visit the facilities, Gabigol returned to Flamengo. The attacker presented himself again this Tuesday (30), hours after obtaining the suspensive effect of the punishment for attempted fraud in the anti-doping test.

“Happy to be back, thank you very much for everyone’s support. As always, the fans are very important at this moment. I thank you from the bottom of my heart, and the most I can do now, and the least, is to run a lot and dedicate myself. Tamo together, thank you, and let’s go. Tomorrow there’s Mengão”, said the number 10 in a video released by the club on social media.

With blonde hair, Gabigol arrived before 2pm (Brasília time) at CT Ninho do Urubu, in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro. Upon getting out of the vehicle, he greeted Flamengo employees one by one, including coach Tite, and was applauded.

It is this Tuesday that Flamengo ends its preparations to face Amazonas, this Wednesday (1), at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), at Maracanã, in the first match of the third phase of the Copa do Brasil.

The punishment

The attacker was suspended on March 25th for two years by the TJD-AD (Anti-Doping Court of Sports Justice). At trial, Gabriel was found guilty of attempted fraud in an anti-d.Oping. There were five votes in favor of the punishment and four votes against.

The athlete was reported by the TJD-AD in December 2023, starting the case.

The penalty began to be valid retroactively from April 2023, when the attempt to cheat on the exam took place, valid until April 2025.

With the hook, Gabriel could no longer train for Flamengo or use the facilities at Ninho do Urubu.

The athlete’s defense sent material on January 26th, while the Flamengo squad was doing pre-season in the United States. An attachment was sent with images from the CT Ninho do Urubu security camera to corroborate Gabigol’s version of innocence.
