Thefts are common in the region

Last year, a report from UOL showed that thefts of wallets, cell phones and other electronic equipment occurred ten times a day in the region, on average.

In contact with the report, the São Paulo Public Security Secretariat stated that authorities are acting in the region and, as a result, the incidence of robberies has fallen compared to last year. “As a result of the work, in the 3rd Sectional Police Station (West), in the first quarter of 2024, compared to the same period of the previous year, robberies in general fell by 10.5% and theft by 0.8%”, says the official note.

At the end of February, reporter Caroline Nequirito, from RedeTV!, was robbed in front of the São Paulo CT, which is also on Avenida Marquês de São Vicente. She filed a police report, but did not recover the device.

My cameraman and I were recording a passage. I was very close to the gate, in the indentation there from São Paulo CT. It was absurd. I took my cell phone out of my pocket so I could call the car from the app, then a boy on a bicycle stopped, drank water from the security guard who was at the entrance and then robbed me.
Caroline Nequirito, to UOL.

The reporter highlights that she had the support of RedeTV!. The broadcaster provided all the necessary assistance and even helped her purchase a new cell phone.
