The Manchester City squad and coach Pep Guardiola participated in a commercial for Etihad Airways, the English club’s main sponsor, which imitates an iconic piece of advertising carried out by the Brazilian team on the eve of the 1998 World Cup.
The UAE’s national airline video unfolds at Abu Dhabi International Airport. The team’s main names are there: Grealish, Foden, Bernardo Silva, Rodri and De Bruyne. Coach Pep Guardiola is also an important character.
They take advantage of a “layover” at Zayed airport to play ball and help a boy rearrange a mountain of balls.

Manchester City copies 1998 Brazil with airport commercial
In 1998, Brazil was preparing to defend the World Cup title in France. A selection full of stars, such as Cafu, Roberto Carlos, Romário and Ronaldo Fenômeno, among others.
Supplier of sports equipment for the Brazilian team at the time and to this day, Nike created a commercial with these stars playing football inside the airport, dodging security guards and other passengers, even dodging planes. That advertising piece made history.
Brazil, in turn, reached the World Cup final, but ended up losing 3-0 to the home team, France.
