Mosquera (Colombia) – In another good performance at Mosquera’s ITF W35, Carolina Meligeni Alves needed just 55 minutes to secure her place in the quarterfinals of the tournament on clay courts in Colombia. The number 3 in Brazil and 346th in the world beat the Dutch Demi Tran by 6/2 and 6/1.

“It was a beautiful game. I served very well and that ended up making a lot of difference. Today was faster than yesterday, which was a day that it rained, so the loot helped even more. I was also able to be more aggressive and played a solid game, with few mistakes”, analyzed Carol, who turned 28 years old last Tuesday.

The 3rd seed in the tournament, Carol faces in the quarterfinals the Paraguayan Ana Paula Neffa de los Rios, ranked 575th, who defeated the North American Isabella Aguirre, coming from quali, by 6/4 6/1. The Campinas native is looking for her fourth semifinal of the season in ITF tournaments. She won a title in March, in the São Paulo city of São João da Boa Vista.

Brazilians say goodbye to doubles

The round was not good for the four Brazilians in doubles. Top seeds, Rebeca Pereira and Colombian Yuliana Lizarazo were beaten by Argentine Jazmin Ortenzi and Mexican Maria Jose Portillo by 2/6, 6/4 and 16-14. Julia Konishi and Dutch Demi Tran fell to American Meisha Kendall-Woseley and British Tiffany William 7/6 (8-6) and 6/4. Letícia Vidal and Georgia Gulin lost 6/0 and 7/6 (7-5) to Argentine Julieta Estable and Mexican Jessica Hinojosa Gomez.
