Activities and experience of the integrative culture of Polynesian surfing is the central proposal of Surf Experiences, a clinic run by three-time longboard world champion Phil Rajzman (titles in 2007 and 2016 by the World Surf League and champion by Oxbow Pro in 2004) which is in its 10th edition and takes place starting this Friday, the 26th, and running until Sunday, the 28th, on Geribá beach (Búzios), in the Lakes Region of Rio de Janeiro.

“It’s a family experience, no matter your age. We welcome parents and children, grandparents, couples, all generations and surfing levels, because the focus is to understand and empower individual characteristics, whether on a longboard, shortboard or Hawaiian canoe. We use the methodology of the integrative vision of Polynesian surfing, where the objective is to have fun in the water, safely. With this, we reached the 10th edition and I am very happy to be able to propagate this”, highlights Rajzman, who for 25 years was a world elite athlete and competed until the 2022 tour.

In all clinics, athletes and sports personalities are invited to bring a little of their trajectory and life goals to the participants. Over the course of the nine editions, big names in national and world surfing have passed such as: Rico de Souza, Carlos Mudinho, Ricardo Bocão, Andrea Lopes, Victor Ribas, Steven Sawyer, David Arganda, Kevin Skavarna and also in other sports such as Bernard Rajzman (volleyball ), Carlos Alberto Parreira (football), among others.

The guests of this edition are the current Brazilian big wave and Hawaiian canoe champions (V1). Hawaiian canoeing is a Polynesian sport and will have a worthy representative to talk about the sport, the Brazilian champion V1 (individual canoe) 2023, Juan Ali, who is also two-time Pan American champion, vice-world champion V6/v2, among other titles

Born in Macaé (RJ), Guilherme Hillel is the 2023 Brazilian Big Wave Champion. “I think it will be an incredible experience and a lot of exchange with the guys. And I’ll be able to catch a wave with Phil too, because we’ve already met there, but now it will be different”, says the 22-year-old athlete who started surfing at 11 under the influence of his parents, who also surf, and joined wave competitions. big three years ago. Guilherme’s mother, Maria Ângela, will participate in the clinic for the second time.

Adapted Surfing – Rajzman has always been involved with social projects and inclusion could not be left out of his clinics. In 2023, the athlete included adapted surfing in the program and developed a special longboard, from his company Phil Rajzman Surfboards, with an attached chair so that people with disabilities could also participate. And he invited the Saquarema Adapted Surfing Association. The first board went to Marcos Shultz Siqueira, 12 years old, from Ubatuba (SP), soon after the athlete donated one of his boards to ASAS

In addition to Marcos, who will be at the clinic, for the second time, the clinic will welcome PWD and autistic children and adolescents from ASAS, the Surf do Bem Project and a social project in Búzios. “My inspiration for developing this equipment for adapted surfing was Marquinhos. It is wonderful to have this interaction and exchange with them at sea, which leaves my heart full of joy, enriches and expands our surfing possibilities”, says the three-time world champion.

Programming – Phil Rajzman Surf Experiences began in 2019 with the aim of being an immersion lasting three to four days. In addition to theoretical and practical surfing classes (divided into beginner, intermediate and advanced levels), participants stay at the athlete’s home, where meals and part of the program take place, in parallel with activities on the beach. In addition to lots of surfing with specialized instructors and teachers, there is a lecture by Sobrasa (Brazilian Water Rescue Association) on prevention and drowning, wave analysis, chat with the guest, quick massage and, on Sunday, the clinic ends with a great celebration, Sunset Culture, a cultural project by Rajzman and his wife Julli Roldão, with a show, artistic exhibitions, organic garden and gastronomy.

The 10th edition of Phil Rajzman Surf Experiences has the support of Phil Rajzman Surfboards, O Pico Certo, Fishbone Búzios, Hotel Laborie, Sushi Geribá, Bar do Zé, Made In Búzios, 3 Chalés and Geribá Surf Shop.
