Men’s table tennis team from Guarulhos guarantees qualification for the regional phase of the Youth Games

Athletes from the city stand out in individual and team competitions, earning a place in the next stage of the competition

Last Monday (22), the Guarulhos men’s table tennis team secured qualification for the regional phase of the Youth Games. The competition, organized by the State Sports Secretariat, brought together young athletes from several cities in search of the title.

The disputes were fierce and took place at the renowned Dunamis Table Tennis Academy, located in Jardim Aida. And it was there that the Guarulhos representatives shone and stood out in both individual and team competitions.

In the individual event, the grand final was led by two athletes from Guarulhos. Kirio Sakiyama won first place. Eduardo Yamashita took runner-up.

In the doubles competition, the pair formed by Eduardo Yamashita and Felipe Ianello, both from Guarulhos, showed incredible harmony and beat the pair Jhonatan and Cauã, from Franco da Rocha, by 3 sets to 1. The victory consolidated Guarulhos’ dominance in this modality.

And do not stop there. In the team competition, athletes Enzo Caccato, Leonardo Oliveira and Diego Lima, representing Guarulhos, faced the team formed by Isaac, Kauã and Cauã, from Franco da Rocha. The Guarulhos team won in straight sets, guaranteeing more points for the city.

At the end of the disputes, Guarulhos had a total of 43 points, compared to Franco da Rocha’s 32 points.

In addition to men’s table tennis, Guarulhos is also represented in several other sports at the Youth Games. The men’s basketball, men’s and women’s volleyball, men’s futsal, men’s handball and men’s table tennis teams join the athletes already classified in the men’s and women’s athletics, women’s basketball, women’s handball and men’s tennis teams.

The next stage of the competition will be the state final, which is scheduled to take place in June, in the city of Araçatuba.
