Inter has a surplus of R$170 million in 2023, a result considered historic

-

Inter presented a R$170.3 million surplus and R$710 million in revenue throughout 2023, two historic and unprecedented results for the club. However, the value of the surplus is lower than what was budgeted for the period (R$ 219.9 million) and is boosted by the release of negotiation values with Liga Forte Futebol (LFF), which inflated the year’s figures by R$ 218 million, of which only half has already been received by the club. In other words, if the rights were not sold to the LFF last year, the club would have suffered an equally historic deficit.

The values are included in the material sent to Inter’s advisors at the end of last week. Along with the 2023 balance sheet, there is the Fiscal Council report, which recommends approval of the accounts, but makes some suggestions for the Management Council. The meeting that will evaluate the numbers, and approve them without many difficulties or debates, will take place next Monday (29th).

According to managers interviewed by CP, the difference between the budgeted result (R$ 219.9 million) and the actual result (R$ 170.3 million) is due to the player sales target not being reached. The club hoped to raise R$135 million by negotiating its athletes, but only managed to put R$77 million into the coffers because of a strategic decision to invest more in football to try to win titles again. But the LFF’s revenue, which is extraordinary and will not occur again, made up for not selling athletes.

At the request of the Fiscal Council, the management detailed how it spent the first installment (R$ 109 million paid by LFF last November. According to the directors, the money was basically used to pay debts with other clubs, players, football suppliers and agents, in addition to legal agreements (details in the table opposite).

It was the third year (2021 to 2023) with a consecutive surplus, after five years (between 2016 and 2020) of consecutive deficits. In 2021, the year that Inter sold Yuri Alberto for 25 million euros, it closed with R$787,000 in profit. The following year, the surplus was 1.032 million.
