Striker Romulo Otero will be judged by the 3rd Disciplinary Commission of the TJD (Court of Sports Justice) this Wednesday (03), at 5 pm. The Venezuelan awaits whether he will receive a punishment that could prevent him from acting for Santos against Palmeiras in the second leg of the Paulistão final this Sunday (07), at 6 pm, at Allianz Parque.

Otero was denounced in article 254, in topic one of the first paragraph of the CBJD (Brazilian Code of Sports Justice) for expulsion in the classification of Peixe over Portuguesa, in Vila Belmiro, in the quarter-finals of the Campeonato Paulista, on March 17th. In regular time, a goalless draw and Peixe advanced on penalties 4-2.

He has already served his automatic suspension for Santos against Red Bull Bragantino, at the Neo Química Arena, in the Paulistão semi-final. However, depending on the outcome of the trial, he could be absent from the return decision if he is suspended for more than two games. The penalty provided for in article 254 is up to six matches of suspension.

WHAT HAPPENED

Otero received a straight red from referee Raphael Claus in the 28th minute of the second half after a stomp on Giovani Augusto, Lusa’s number 10.

“Reason: Expelled for hitting his opponent from n. 10, sir. Giovani Augusto Oliveira Cardoso with the cleats of his boot on his ankle, twisting it and putting his opponent’s physical integrity at risk,” Claus reported in the summary.
