A businessman ran over a football player and fled after an argument in a cafeteria in Arujá, Grande São Pauloin the early hours of Sunday (31).

According to delegate Jaime Pimentel, from the Arujá Police District, the victim, Caique Solerinho de Andrade, aged 28, fought with the person responsible for the collision, aged 31, in a fast food chain.

After the argument, the player went to a nightclub with his wife, in the Arujazinho neighborhood.

When the couple left the nightclub, around 4am, the man reappeared in a Volkswagen Jetta and argued with Andrade. Images from a security camera show a portion of the fight.

The equipment also caught the moment when the driver makes a prohibited turn and throws the car towards the group, hitting the player. He was thrown over the car.

The athlete was taken to a hospital in Mogi das Cruzes in serious condition, and there is no updated information about his health condition.

According to the police officer, the perpetrator fled, but was identified — although his name was not disclosed — and an arrest request has already been made. The police expect the warrant to be accepted by the courts this Wednesday (3).

The businessman has a history of embezzlement. The Jetta used in the crime is in the name of a woman, who claimed to have sold the car to the perpetrator.

Caique Andrade played for the Ponte Preta team, from the city of Campinas, in the interior of São Paulo, in 2013. In recent years, he started playing for floodplain teams.

The case was registered as an attempted homicide at the Arujá Police Station.
