Zagreb (Croatia) – Croatian Goran Ivanisevic broke his silence after splitting with Serbian Novak Djokovic in an interview with journalist Sasa Ozmo from Sports Club. The now former coach of the world number 1 believes that ‘Nole’ remains motivated to conquer new milestones and bets on Nenad Zimonjic as the ideal name to succeed him.

“I don’t know how long Djokovic will continue to play, but the right person for him is Nenad Zimonjic. At the moment Novak doesn’t need a new person, after 10 days he would go crazy. He already knows everything, but Ziki’s (Zimonjic’s nickname) approach can help him,” said the Croatian.

“Zimonjic knows Nole’s mentality very well, they have already worked together in the Davis Cup,” added Ivanisevic, recalling that Zimonjic was not only at Djokovic’s side as Serbian Davis Cup captain, but also in countless other clashes as a player. The two even played doubles together a few times.

For the Serbian’s former coach, there is still a desire to seek new achievements. One of them is the gold medal at the Paris Olympic Games, the only thing missing from Djokovic’s victorious career, who only has a bronze at the 2008 Beijing Games.

“I think Novak will find the motivation, I’m sure of that. I wish him Olympic gold with all my heart, even more than the Slams. It’s something he wants, he feels like he owes it to someone, even if he doesn’t owe anyone anything. I wish him to win the Olympics”, added the Croatian coach.
