Praia Clube is alive and well in the fight for its third Women’s Superliga title! Sovereign in the first two parts, the team came under pressure from Sesi Bauru in the rest of the match. Still, he left Arena Dentil, in Uberlândia, this Tuesday (2/4), with a victory by 3 sets to 2 (25/17, 25/16, 21/25, 24/26 and 15/12), for the quarterfinals. The triumph in the third game added to the victory in the first gave the Aurinegra team a place in the semifinals of the tournament.

The match at Arena Dentil meant the seventh meeting between Praia Clube and Sesi Bauru of the season. The Minas Gerais team won five of them, and the São Paulo team triumphed in two.

In the first match for the quarterfinals, Praia left the court winning by 3 sets to 2. In the second game, Sesi Bauru won by the same score.

In the semi-final, Praia Clube faces Flamengo. In the quarterfinals, the Rio team left Barueri behind. Now, the classified teams are waiting for the Brazilian Volleyball Confederation (CBF) to define dates and times for the clashes.

The game

Paulo Coco, coach of Praia Clube, selected Sofya Kuznetsova, Milka, Monique, Milla, Adenízia, Kasiely and Natinha. The coach was unable to count on setter Naiane, who was injured. On the other side of the court, coach Marcos Miranda started the match with Karina, Mayany, Edinara, Dani Lins, Mayhara, Maiara Basso and Léia.

Praia Clube started the match by telling their opponents that leaving Uberlândia with the qualification would not be simple. Right at the beginning of the set, they opened a four-point lead. That short period was an indication of how the partial would go. This is because the sovereign Aurinegra team commanded all the statistics and triumphed 25 to 17.

The principals maintained their behavior in the second stage. In attacks, they were even more efficient (18 to 10). Once again, with distance, they closed the set – 25 to 16.

The advantage on the scoreboard did not mean comfort for the beachgoers. On the contrary. In the two previous matches, the team that led 2-0 suffered a comeback and lost 3-2.

With this in mind, Sesi Bauru returned to play the third half with a different stance. For the first time, he even managed to get ahead on the scoreboard. And he opened up an important advantage. To try to stop the São Paulo team, Paulo Coco replaced Milla with Claudinha. Under treatment for tendinitis, Praia Clube’s number 4 came in to play in sacrifice.

In a way, the change in distribution paid off. This is because Praia Clube got closer to its opponents, but was unable to regain the lead on the scoreboard. By 25 to 21, Sesi Bauru closed the third set.

In the fourth stage, the teams competed point by point and provided volleyball fans with a head-to-head confrontation. In the end, Sesi Bauru won 26-24 and took the match to a tie-break.

The balance remained in the tiebreaker set. The performance of some athletes stood out. For Sesi Bauru, Mayhara, central, stood out. For Praia Clube, Adenízia, vibrant, closed the net and commanded the block and the home team’s victory – 15 to 12.

Emphasis

At the end of the competition, Adenízia, who suffers from a calf strain, received the award for best player. The center scored 13 points from blocks alone.
