The case of Christian Horner, head of Red Bull, accused of misconduct by a team employee, gained a new chapter. The woman appealed the internal decision that exonerated Horner and took the complaint to the FIA Ethics Commission.

A close friend of the accuser revealed to the BBC that she feels ‘very upset, angry, scared, intimidated and alone’. The woman’s identity is kept secret by a confidentiality agreement, which prevents her from speaking about the case, except with her father and brother.

“It’s impossible for people to understand what she’s going through,” the friend said. “She can’t talk and doesn’t want to talk. But I can tell what it’s doing to her. Every time I ask her something, she starts crying and says she has no one to talk to because she is not allowed to talk.”

Red Bull’s internal investigation, conducted by a lawyer paid by the team itself, was questioned by the victim’s friend. He also criticized the leak of alleged WhatsApp messages between the woman and Horner to the press.

“I feel like some people think there needs to be blame on both sides, but that’s unfair,” he said. “The question here is: Should Christian have done what he did how?”

The accuser remains steadfast in her search for justice. She hopes that the FIA will investigate the case, and does not rule out taking the case to court, which would make all information about the race available, something that is not to the liking of the Formula 1 team, nor its boss, Horner.
