Rio – Flamengo’s reinforcement, 27-year-old striker Carlinhos, has not yet been announced, but has already caught the attention of the Spanish newspaper “AS”. The publication highlighted the turnaround that his career is taking. Carioca’s second top scorer, the striker, who still plays for Nova Iguaçu, was competing in Série D last year.

“The 27-year-old striker went through countless difficulties to find his place in the elite. From his position as a promising young man to taking a year off to take care of his mother. Now his time to shine has come,” published the newspaper, which cited that Carlinhos defended Camboriú and played for Série D for six months.

Formed at Corinthians, Carlinhos played for small clubs in São Paulo such as Oeste, Novorizontino, Juventus, São Caetano and Santo André. In Rio, he had two spells at Audax. In his first season for Nova Iguaçu, the striker played in 13 games, scored nine goals and provided one assist.

At Flamengo, Carlinhos will arrive to be an option on the bench for Pedro. Gabigol, 27, is suspended because he was suspended for two years for trying to cheat on an anti-doping test. Despite this, Rubro-Negro trusts that he will be able to reverse the penalty and registered the number 10 in the Libertadores.
