The fun improvisations made by Carcass to beat the heat at the Summer show

One of the funniest images seen at the 2024 edition of the Summer Breeze Festival took place during the Carcass performance on Sunday, April 28, an exceptionally hot day at the Memorial da América Latina in São Paulo, where the event was being held, which led to Jeff Walker, bassist and vocalist of Carcass, placing a bag of ice on his head in an attempt to alleviate the high temperature.

The curious scene, recorded in videos by Emanuel Seagal, proved that in addition to being a great musician, he also has an unusual ability to balance something in his head, as he achieved the feat of playing an entire song in this way, resolving or at least reducing the intense heat he was feeling.

However, the one who really had a good dose of luck that he grabbed and took advantage of without hesitation was his bandmate, guitarist Bill Steer, who sheltered most of the time under the shadow of the Memorial Hand to escape the sun, as can be seen in the photo below, taken by Diego Camara, also the author of the other images in this article.

In it, Bill uses the sculpture designed by Oscar Niemeyer called “The Hand”, made in honor of the struggle of the people of Latin America for freedom measuring around seven meters, which projected an immense shadow on the corner of the Ice Stage where the lucky guitarist, who didn’t act like he was asked and hid under the protection of the monument to escape the inclement sun that was punishing his bandmates.
