President Augusto Melo has not yet signed any contract regarding broadcasting rights for the Brazilian championships from 2025 to 2029.

However, the final chapter of this soap opera should come out in the next few days, as the pressure is enormous.

There are millions and millions of reais and many interests at stake.

After Libra (a club league that brings together Palmeiras, Flamengo, among others) signed a contract with Globo, Corinthians began negotiating separately with the broadcaster.

But Globo’s offer did not come close to the offer of more than R$240 million per year from BRAX, an advertising company that works in the field of advertising signs and now also in broadcasting rights for championships.

BRAX is an intermediary, Globo is the final product. Therefore, BRAX’s offer does not exclude Globo.

The ideal world for all sides, and what seems to be heading at the moment, would be for Corinthians to close the contract with BRAX, and the rights to be passed on by the company to TV Globo.

Good for Globo, as negotiating with BRAX and not Corinthians avoids problems with Libra clubs.

Good for Corinthians, as BRAX’s offer is better financially, and the games will still be shown on the largest open TV channel, allowing greater visibility for sponsors.

And good for BRAX, which will profit indirectly. Let me explain: BRAX has the rights to sell advertising boards in Corinthians games, and can sell these boards for a higher price if the games are broadcast on Globo than they could on closed TV or streaming.

Disclosure

It is a complex subject that also involves other variables, such as the number of games on open, closed TV and PPV, the method of payment, the advance to the club, the bonuses for placing in the championships, etc.

From what I heard from those familiar with the negotiations, Corinthians has not closed the door to any new offers, but wants to resolve this matter as quickly as possible, and today the scenario I outlined above is the most likely to happen.
