Carlos Sainz Jrwhich defends the Ferrari at F1spoke about the Red Bull Racing and the possibility of competing with the Austrian team in the season. According to the Spaniard, it will be difficult to face the current champions of the category until the next updates arrive. The representative of the Italian team won the last race of the year, in Melbourne.
“Our car worked very well this weekend (in Australia). But it will be difficult to maintain this pace on all tracks until we have an update to close the gap we saw in Bahrain and Jeddah.”said Sainz. “However, in Australia, from the first lap, it looked like a car capable of winning. And even if Red Bull was also fast and had pole position, that qualifying time was not beyond our reach.”
The Spaniard also added: “There will be tracks where we will be strong, as we saw last year. And this year, it seems like our race pace is better. Together with a good development program, I hope we can challenge Red Bull more often.”. Sainz remains the only driver outside the Austrian team to have reached the top of the podium in both 2023 and 2024.
