The São José Basketball women’s team debuted with victory in the Copa São Paulo, a competition simultaneously with the National League. For the men’s NBB, this Monday’s match is a challenge against Franca at the opponent’s home.

Pontz São José Basketball debuted with a victory over Pró-Esporte Basquete 90 to 59, in the Copa São Paulo, at Escola Portal in Sorocaba.

The Eagles’ next match will be away from home against Unimed Campinas, Wednesday (3), at 6:45 pm, by LBF Caixa.

The Pontz São José Basketball team went to the court coach Leandro Leal with: Luana, Gabrielly Parro, Gih Souza, Nath Lima and Laurah Isaias.

The current champions of the Copa São Paulo started the match with a defensive intensity that did not allow their opponents to score and with a good performance in attack, scoring 9 to 3. Pró Esporte managed to reduce it with a three-point basket, 11 to 6. But The Joseenses closed the first quarter winning by five, 15 to 10.

With the same rhythm as in the first half, Lucia infiltrated to score two points, 17 to 10. In the last minutes before the break, the Sorocaba team reacted, and after the free throws converted by Monica, it was 41 to 31.

Pró-Esporte returned from the locker room with a different attitude, and with a run of seven points tied the game, 41 to 41. Pontz São José Basketball’s response came right after the technical timeout requested by Leandro Leal, the wing/guard Gabrielly Parro converted two shots from the dead zone, giving peace of mind to the Joseenses. On the Eagles’ last possession, Livia infiltrated and made the layup, leaving the lead at 68 to 51.

With a comfortable score, coach Leandro Leal took the opportunity to rotate the athletes and even with the changes, Pontz São José Basketball maintained the pace. In Ariane’s three-pointer, the team from Vale do Paraíba took 28 leads, 83 to 55. Without allowing the Sorocaba team to react, the team from José secured the victory by 90 to 59.

This Monday (1st), Coop São José Basketball faces Sesi Franca away from home at NBB Caixa, at 8pm, at the Pedrocão gym.

The home team is enjoying a great moment in the competition, with 13 wins in the last 14 games played. The French team, current champion of the tournament, occupies second place and is already guaranteed in the G4.

The team from Jose appears in ninth place, with a 53.1% success rate, in a positive campaign of 17 wins and 15 losses. The team already has a guaranteed place in the playoffs and is now fighting to finish the current phase in the top eight to take control of the field in the round of 16.

The team from Vale do Paraíba played without center Renato Carbonari in their last commitments and, even so, managed to achieve two victories in the three previous matches – they beat Cerrado and Brasília at home, and were surpassed by Minas away from home. One of the highlights of the team from Jose is winger Pedro Chourio, who averaged 18.75 points per game during the last four matches and is growing in production on the brink of the playoffs.

Coach Sebastián Figueredo points to the search for some improvements with an eye on the next phase. “We are in a moment of growth focused on specific issues. Our team has a very tough streak at the end of the championship and we want with all our strength to play well, convinced in our quest to win as many games as possible. Franca is a quality rival, which allows little margin for error, we are training to improve our use and precision in away games”, said the coach.
