16-year-old teenager is arrested after being discovered with a fish knife in her backpack

A 16-year-old teenager was arrested on Tuesday afternoon (30), after being discovered with a fish knife hidden in her backpack. The case took place in a municipal school in Conceição do Coité, around 200 km from Salvador.

According to the Municipal Civil Guard (GCM), the girl was armed at the João Paulo Fragoso Municipal School with the intention of attacking a classmate of the same age.

The Military Police were called, however, as the incident was recorded within the school area, the Municipal Guard was called and confirmed, with the school director, possession of the weapon.

According to information from members of the Anjos Jacuipense Volunteer Brigade, who were at the scene, the student had told colleagues that she intended to attack the girl. The school administration learned of the threat and contacted law enforcement authorities when they realized the imminent danger.

The reason for the conflict between the teenagers would be a boy. The girl with the knife reportedly said the other girl had flirted with her boyfriend. Luckily, the target of the action was not at the school.

In a note, the municipality’s Department of Education explained that the school director identified the student’s movement through the institution’s security system, which allows monitoring all areas of the unit.

The director immediately contacted the GCM and the Guardianship Council.

The teenager was taken to give a statement, but details of the motivation for the conflict have not yet been released.

The secretariat also says that security measures will be reinforced at the teaching unit. The punishment for the student will be determined in accordance with the school regulations and the guidelines of the Guardianship Council.
