Social movements thank Marcio Macedo for his participation in Minha Casa Minha Vida, in Sergipe

Minister from Sergipe guaranteed an increase in the number of houses for the state for projects by social entities and rural residences

The Banese club was the stage for the first workshop held by Caixa Econômica Federal to answer questions and clarify doubts from social and popular movement entities that managed to have projects selected in Minha Casa Minha Vida Entidades. The idea and organization of the workshop came from the ministry led by Marcio Macedo from Sergipe. More than 50 entities participated. They went to listen to technical guidance from directors of Caixa Econômica.
At the opening of the event, Macedo was honored by the MTST, Brazilian Homeless Workers Movement. One of the leaders of the movement, Maria das Graças, thanked the minister for his work to bring 3,495 houses to the State in projects developed by the entities for urban areas and also projects to serve rural areas. Maria recalled that without the minister’s persistence and support for the demands of the people of Sergipe, these benefits would not have arrived.
Macedo said that the Minha Casa Minha Vida events have a strong emotional charge for him because he puts himself in the shoes of the family that doesn’t have a roof over their heads, the family that sees a large part of their budget go down the drain in paying rent. He recalled that initially what was planned for Sergipe in this stage of Minha Casa Minha Vida was almost 900 houses. “I spoke with the civil house, with President Lula. I explained that the housing deficit in Sergipe is still very large and if I arrived here presenting around 800 houses I would be trampled on by the movements”, he said in a joking tone. “After this convincing work there in Brasília, we managed to bring almost 3,500 houses here”, added the minister.
The event was attended by minister Marcio Macedo, Caixa’s vice-president of housing, Inês Magalhães, and the bank’s regional superintendent, Silvia Peloso, state and municipal secretaries of Aracaju.

Caixa representatives thanked the entities for their presence. They highlighted that it was very important to be interested in knowing and examining all the points of the projects already selected so that everyone can be effectively hired and construction can begin as soon as possible.

It was the first time for this Caixa partner in a workshop for entities with projects selected by the MCMV and it is possible that it will become a model to be replicated from now on.
